Cocoa West Recreation Complex Advisory Committee: A regular meeting of the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Central Area Parks Operations, Cocoa West Recreation Complex Advisory Committee will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Cocoa West Recreation Community Center located at 230 South Burnett Road, Cocoa. Dubbed “Get it Done Days,” the events will assist participants in preparing to start their college career at EFSC during the Spring Term 2022. Indian River Lagoon Day: The cities of Melbourne, Palm Bay and Satellite Beach, and the Brevard County Natural Resources Management Department invite you to join us for Indian River Lagoon Day, a fun-filled day focused on celebrating the Indian River Lagoon. The event will take place on Saturday, November 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Front Street Park, 2210 Front Street, Melbourne. Admission is free.
Environmental exhibitors will be on hand to showcase a variety of available volunteer opportunities in restoration activities, educational efforts and citizen-science projects. Free kayaking will be provided by Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach. Food trucks, arts and craft vendors, bounce house and activities for children will also be available.
A Hook Kids on Fishing clinic will take place from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Kids participating in the clinic will each receive a fishing rod and gear. Advanced registration is required. Sign up online at www.anglersforconservation.org. For gardeners, rain barrel workshops will be held from 11 a.m. until noon. Participants will be able to construct and take home a free rain barrel. Only 20 are available and first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be conducted at the festival that morning.
