Keep Plainview Beautiful, Hale Co. 4-H to host recycling awareness booth Wednesday | Basic Computer Hubb

Keep Plainview Beautiful and Hale Country 4-H will celebrate America Recycles Day at United Supermarkets, 3501 Olton Road, on Wednesday from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Organizers plan to give away goody bags with information on recycling in Plainview, and coloring books. Staff will be available to answer questions about recycling in Plainview. Look for the big blue truck.

 

A Community Thanksgiving Meal is planned for Nov. 20 at the James Hearn Center at 210 E. Bullock St. The event starts at 1 p.m. and is free to attend. The community is encouraged to attend.


 

Holy Family Parish in Nazareth will host a special Thanksgiving Dinner & Raffle and Holiday Arts & Crafts Bazaar on Sunday.

The day will begin with a special turkey dinner, which will include turkey, dressing and the trimmings, plus homemade desserts. The meal will be at Nazareth Community Hall from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Plates are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 10 years old and younger. The Bazaar will coincide. It’s set to start at 10 a.m. and will end at 2:30 p.m. at the Holy Family CCD Building. There will be Christmas shopping, home décor, homemade baked goods and more.

 

The 9th and Columbia Church of Christ is preparing for its hygiene bag distribution. Church members are working to prepare hygiene bags including gloves, socks, throws and other items.

 

Covenant Health will host a support group for those living with diabetes. The free meetings will be held once a month on Tuesday evenings from 6-7 p.m. at the Covenant Health LifeStyle Centre, which located on the top floor of the east parking garage off 21st and Knoxville. Dates for next meetings are Dec. 21 and Jan. 18. The meetings are led by participants in the group and will feature appearances by industry experts such as dentists, fitness specialists and certified diabetes educations. A cappella group Straight No Chaser will bring its “Back in the High Life” tour to Lubbock’s Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences on Nov. 19. The performance is set for 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.buddyhollyhall.com.

 

Organizers are currently gathering donations for the Shoebox Christmas program created to provide gifts to local individuals at nursing and assisted living facilities in Plainview, Hale Center and Lockney. Items accepted for donation include tissues, socks, aftershave and perfume, lotions and other items covering basic needs. Right now, they’re encouraging monetary donations. DECEMBER DEADLINES

 

Ballet Lubbock is preparing to perform “The Nutcracker” at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences in December. The show, presented by Market Street, is set for Dec. 9 through Dec. 12. Tickets are now on sale. Friends of the Ballet have early access and can purchase tickets now. The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences will the 2021 KLOVE Christmas on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature a lineup of five musical acts, including CASTING CROWNS, Mac Powell, CAIN, Dante Bowe and Jordan St. Cyr. The 9th and Columbia Church of Christ is already preparing for its annual Christmas dinner next month. The church will host a special ham and turkey dinner to be conducted in a to-go fashion. The event is set for Dec. 25. Those interested will be able to pick up their plates of food at 808 N. Columbia from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The plates will include turkey, ham, green beans, mashed and sweet potatoes, rolls, (hopefully) gravy, dessert and a drink. This will be a free meal. No collections.

 

Tickets are on sale for the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas live performance set for Dec. 29, 2021 at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences in Lubbock. Single ticket sales for the Broadway at The Buddy Holly Hall Series are now on sale. The series includes: “An Officer and a Gentleman” on Jan. 11-12; “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical” on Feb. 8-9; “Jersey Boys” on April 4-5; and “Anastasia” on June 20-21. The season’s add-on or swap-a-show option will be “Rent 25th Anniversary Farewell Tour” Show.

 

Disney Princess – The Concert kicked off a national tour in Macon, Georgia on Nov. 1 and the tour is set to stop in Lubbock in February. The concert is set for Feb. 2, 2022 at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences. Visit DisneyPrincessConcert.com for additional information.

 

Zach Williams will make a stop in Lubbock to perform at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences on April 3. South Plains Community Action is offering mortgage assistance to income-eligible households impacted by COVID-19. The program will help qualifying households to pay up to six consecutive months of full and/or partial mortgage payments, including mortgage arrears, according to a flyer from SPCAA. At least one of those months of mortgage coverage can be used to cover a future monthly payment. Households that qualify must be in Hale, Bailey, Lamb, Floyd, Hockley, Cochran, Dickens, Crosby, Garza, Lynn, Motley, Terry and Yoakum. South Plains Community Action is based out of Levelland.
